The Job
The Revenue Analytics team developed a Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Platform to unlock Turner's digital ad data and drive revenue growth for Turner's world class digital properties. The next phase of development will focus on building machine learning based products (e.g., forecasting tools, first-party audience segments) leveraging the existing data platform. The Senior Data Analyst will lead the development of these new capabilities in partnership with stakeholders in Product Management, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and Ad Sales.

The Daily
  • Analyze Turner's digital ad sales inventory, audience, and monetization data that will uncover new insights and business opportunities.
  • Build compelling data visualizations to communicate data-driven insight.
  • Develop machine learning models to help answer business questions and to create new data-driven capabilities.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders (Business Operations, Sales, Yield, etc.) to identify data-driven solutions for the digital ad sales business.
  • Build data-driven solutions using best in class cloud computing technology.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to develop data pipelines for onboarding, transforming and exposing new data sources.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Ad Sales, Technology, and Operations to understand business context, objectives, and constraints.
  • Research machine learning methods related to specific business problems.
  • Seek out new opportunities to deploy machine learning at scale.
  • Use machine learning methods to develop data products that will drive digital ad sales revenue growth.
  • Specific areas of research include digital ad sales inventory forecasts and development of 1st party audiences using the latest technology and Turner's vast data sets.
  • Explore, analyze, and prep digital ad sales data.
  • Train and test machine learning models.
  • Partner with Technology to deploy and manage the lifecycle of models.
  • As a subject matter expert, develop analytical solutions and processes related to inventory utilization and pricing that will drive renuve and efficiencies.
  • Produce data driven insights and processes to generate incremental digital ad revenue.
The Essentials
  • To be successful in the role, you'll need to be intellectually curious, detail-oriented, open to new ideas, and possess a strong aptitude for quantitative methods.
  • Experience with predictive modeling or machine learning (e.g., strong understanding of various regression/classification algorithms and approaches).
  • Experience working with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Julia, R, Scala, …).
  • Experience working with machine learning packages (Spark ML, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience working with SQL and other query languages (e.g., presto, hive, etc.).
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas and findings.
  • Preference for prior technology or media company experience (e.g. ad serving technology, DMPs, SSP/DSP).
  • Prior experience with AWS, Spark, and Snowflake is a plus.
  • Ability to partner with various teams (non-technical to technical).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
