Opportunity Overview

Reporting into the African Business Development Director the role is responsible for sales administration, finance reporting and forecasting, invoicing in conjunction with accounting and finance departments. The sales executive is also in charge of preparing commercial documents (newsletters, powerpoints, arguments, pitches…) under the supervision African Advertising Director.

In particular Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TNT, Free To Air partnerships, Digital and any other advertising initiative in the region. The role ALSO requires the coordination of all Advertising Agents or Rep companies, supporting them in defining priorities, meeting with key customers, tracking their achievements and performances as well as action plans and activities.
  • Support African Advertising Director for sales activities
  • Manages directly a number of customers so that the benefit for the company is maximized
  • Works closely with other local Turner departments (commercial, finance, marketing, editorial, S&P, L&M, etc) setting Sales requirements and timing, briefing teams with any required support.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Sales administration, finance reports, invoicing, work with accounting and finance departments, work on revenue forecasts and planning
  • Data analysis with a view to support sales (both TV and digital), work with Telmar, Nielsen, Research team, Excel PowerPoint, Data management, (ideally Ariana and Telmar)
  • Prepare commercial presentations with Advertising director and Marketing team to support ad reps, and direct sales
  • Prepare monthly committees with ad reps (follow the lists agreed tasks, prepare slides, anticipate review with relevant stakeholders)
  • Prepare internal reports and meetings (data, updates on projects, financials…)
  • Work with Traffic Scheduler to monitor IT/Support provision of back-end tools for both data analysis and advertising flighting
  • Manage ad reps in conjunction with Advertising Director (establish implement and measure action plans), regular meetings and discussions with ad reps (South Africa and Rest of Africa)
  • Work synergistically with other departments (marketing, finance, commercial, Licensing & Merchandising, IT, D&CI)
  • Support Advertising director in achieving sales targets (TV and digital)

  • Digital ad sales landscape
  • Knowledge of other African countries is a plus (Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana in particular)
  • Knowledge of advertising agencies and stakeholders (tv, digital, radios, publishing etc…)
  • Negotiation skills is a plus
